Abia State government has condemned the destruction of parts of the headquarters of Isiala Ngwa South local government of the State by some unknown arsonists in early hours of Thursday.
The government accused the arsonists of trying to disrupt Thursday’s Peoples Democratic party(PDP) primary elections.
The State government in a statement on Thursday signed by the Secretary to the Abia State government (SSG), Barr Chris Ezem, mandated security agencies to apprehend and prosecute those behind the burning of parts of the Isiala Ngwa South council of the State, vowing that no developmental projects would be carried out in the local government unless the the arsonists were arrested, adding that the era of using public money to repair destroyed government properties were over.
The government further vowed that the primary elections would go on as planned despite the evil plans of arsonists in the local government.
It decried a situation where public money was being expended to rebuild destroyed public property.
While urging indigenes of the area to cooperate with the security agencies in efforts to unravel the faces behind the dastardly act, he vowed that that the perpetrators will be brought to book.
