Embittered with heightened economic crisis, hunger, insecurity, suffering and lack of social amenities caused by bad governance in Imo State, the African Development Congress (ADC), has vowed that it shall unseat Governor Hope Uzodimma and APC from Douglas House in the November 2023 guber poll.
The party maintained that it feels embittered that Uzodimma has offensively destroyed the state since the Supreme Court declared him governor, regretting that the economy, infrastructure and education have collapsed with welfare and wellbeing of the people being punctured, insecurity, hardship, pain, suffering and discomfort taking the center stage in the state which is being prided as the largest gas production in West Africa.
Speaking with media professionals in Owerri last week, the ADC National Vice Chairman, South East, Chilos Godsent, warned Uzodimma and the APC to start parking their belongings out of Douglas House Owerri as ADC and other political parties in the South East are forming strong alliance to sack them with a view to strengthening good governance to rebuild the state to the betterment of the people who he said are being neglected, jettisoned and maltreated.
According to him, “ADC has issued a Quite Notice to the Senator Hope Uzodimma led APC government in Imo State. We therefore advise Uzodimma and APC to start parking their belongings out of Imo State Government House before 11 November, 2023 gubernatorial election, as ADC South East has set up Contact and Mobilization Committee and Political Action Committee to commence intensive mobilization of Imo State electorate geared towards the launching of Rainbow Alliance with other political parties, organizations and political blocs targeted at sending the APC packing…”
Thus, the party’s Zonal Secretary, Frank Agumadu, had alleged that the APC and Governor Hope Uzodimma used INEC, security operatives and thugs to rig the 2023 Presidential, National Assembly, Governorship and House of Assembly elections, held on February 25 and March 18 in the state.
Agumadu stressed that “on that remarkable day in the political history of Imo State, the Uzodimma led government used every instrumentality and structures of the government within their disposal, both at the state, LGAs, wards and communities levels to mastermind the brazen election violence and intimidation against the electorate of Imo State in a desperate bid to rig the elections of the State House of Assembly of Saturday 18 March, 2023, in the Twenty Seven State Constituencies in Imo State”.
Hence, the party had called on the Imo State Election Tribunals to quickly nullify all State House of Assembly election results which it said petitions were written and brought before them, harping that their process of emergence was fraught with obvious irregularities of rigging and violence which it maintained contravened the Electoral Act.
