All staff of Abia State Independent Electoral Commission (ABSIEC) who worked during the December, 2016 local government elections have been invited to present themselves to the commission for onward payment of their stipends.

This information was contained in a statement signed by the Chairman of ABSIEC, Prof Mkpa Agu Mkpa, released on Tuesday, October 13 in Umuahia.

According to the statement by Mkpa, all the Ad hoc staff who worked for the Commission during the 2016 local government chairmanship and councillorship polls but did not receive their stipends have been penciled down for payment in a day to be announced.

The statement directed the the affected Ad hoc staff to report to the ABSIEC offices in the various LGAs where they worked in 2016, with copies of their appointment letters, together with valid identification cards.
They were also directed to present passport photographs, phone numbers and current addresses, as verification and documentation exercises would be carried out on them, prior to the payment.

The information concluded that the verification exercise would end on Friday, October 16.

However, one of the affected staff, Mr Charles Chukwuebuka denied receiving any appointment letter from ABSIEC in 2016, wondering why it was included as one of the conditions to be met before one could be paid, after four years of work done.
