Members of Abia State House of Assembly have condemned the killing of a policeman and burning of Umoba Police Station in Isiala Ngwa South LGA of Abia State.
A Police Sergeant, according to Mr. Geoffrey Ogbonna, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Abia State Command was killed while the station was burnt down by some unknown hoodlums, who also looted the armoury of the attacked station.
Reacting to the challenging security situations, some members of the Abia State House of Assembly in its sitting on Thursday, condemned the killings of PoS agents, Policeman at Omoba Police station as well as slammed the aFulanisre State.
In a motion by the immediate-past Speaker of the Abia State legislature, Hon Chikwendu Kalu (Isiala Ngwa South) and supported by , the lawmakers, demanded the appearance of the security heads in the State before the House, to explain their efforts at tackling the present security situations in Abia.
Brought up under matter of public importance by Hon Kalu, the ex-Speaker demanded that security heads should appear before the House’s executive session on February 8.
Hon Chikwendu Kalu informed the House of how Omoba Police station in his constituency was attacked by unknown hoodlums while Hon Abraham Nwoba (Aba Central) also notified the House how two PoS agents were killed by robbers after robbing the victims.
Nwoba also expressed dismay at the condition his constituents whose business enterprises were being disturbed by activities of men of underworld.
Equally, Emeka Okoroafor (Isukwuato), Philip Igwe (Umunneochi) and Godwin Adiele, respectively flayed the security challenges being faced by their constituents recently.
Responding to the motion, the Speaker of the House, Hon Chinedum Orji, called for an end to the ugly security situations in some parts of the State.
He assured of lawmakers’ commitment to the restoration of peace in the State.
