Abia State Government has issued a quit notice to illegal occupants of the premises of Enyimba Hotel, Ogbor Hill, Aba.

The State government in a statement by the Chief of Staff to Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, Dr Anthony Agbazuere, warned that any one found doing any type of business inside the hotel compound after Monday, 7 September, 2020 would have himself to blame .

he press statement noted that the state government had handed over the hotel to the Aba Chamber of Commerce Industry, Mines and Agriculture (ACCIMA) for proper management, but regretted that the chamber of commerce did not utilize the facilities which made it to be taken over by auto mechanics, traders and other artisans.

It further lamented that activities of the illegal occupants in and around the hotel has desecrated the beauty of the city, while posing dangerous environmental challenge to residents.

In a related development, the Abia State ministry of environment has regretted that the death of Dr Solomon Ogunji, the former Commissioner for Environment stalled the ministry’s plans to de-silt drainages in the state for easy flow of water.

This lamentation was made by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr Iheanyichukwu Ubaniat Umuahia LGA headquarters while briefing journalists.

Represented by the Director of Pollution Control and Environmental Health, Mr Ikechukwu Ukaegbu, the ministry faulted the attitude of some Abia residents who did not compliment the efforts of the ministry in the crusade for a cleaner environment.

The Perm Sec, however, gave thumbs up to Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for providing the needs of the ministry, even at a period of economic crunch occasioned by covid-19 pandemic.
