The Abia State government has alerted of plans by some unnamed persons to destabilize the State.

In a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information, Chief John Okiyi Kalu, the Abia State government disclosed that intelligence reports at its disposal revealed suspicious movements of strange persons whose motives are to incite the Abia populace.

Though, no particular individual or group was named as the brain behind the strange movements, the government placed security agencies on red alert and ordered them to apprehend those behind the plot.
The statement partly read,” Abia State government has received intelligence reports on suspicious movement of strange persons and plots to incite the populace in Abia State with the aim of destabilizing the polity,”

“Law enforcement agencies in the State have been placed on red alert and ordered to apprehend any person or group involved in such dastardly act. We want to specifically warn market leaders to be wary of suspicious movements within and around markets in the State.

“Times are tough already due to the Corona virus pandemic and we will not welcome any attempt to create scenarios that can precipitate economic hardship on our people,” the Abia government warned
