Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu has assured the people of Umuaru, Nenu and adjacent communities that construction works would soon begin on Umuaru-Nenu road in Obingwa LGA of the state.
He gave the assurance on Sunday at United Evangelical Church, Nenu Supretendency during a thanksgiving service organised in his honour by the former deputy governor of the state, Dr. Chris Akomas for surviving Corona virus disease.

The governor promised that works on the road would begin in seven days as the contract has been awarded, adding that the people of the area and other road users would soon enjoy a new lease of life when the project is completed.
He thanked Akomas and the church for their prayers during his sick period and explained that their prayers helped in his recovery.
He also expressed joy that the road project when completed would go a long way in boosting the economic fortunes of his Nenu people in particular and Abians in general.

Speaking earlier, the former deputy governor and now a Commissioner in Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission, Chris Akomas said it was a thing of joy that Ikpeazu recovered from the dreaded Covid -19 sickness, as his recovery was a divine intervention.
Akomas urged Christians to look onto God in times of challenges.
Ikpeazu is from Umuobiakwa, while Akomas hails from Nenu, all in Obingwa LGA.
