The Managing Director of Nigerian Film Corporation, Dr. Chidia Maduekwe has called for zoning of political power of Abia State to another zone of the State in the interest of peace and development.

This, he said, would guarantee the stability of the State as envisioned by her founding fathers.

Maduekwe gave the advise at Asaga, Ohafia LGA of the State while speaking on state of the nation.

He expressed disappointment at the level of failed infrastructure around the State, which he lamented, stemmed from poor leadership in Abia.

“The truth is that we have failed our founding fathers. We have intellectual giants but the achievements on the ground are nothing to write home about. We are here to change the ugly story of Abia and that is why I can’t keep quiet anymore “, the NFC managing director said.

“Zoning in Abia should be sustained to maintain the cohesiveness of Abia State. Leadership should flow for peace and orderliness to prevail and that is why the understandable agreement by founding fathers of Abia should be respected”.

He also charged Nigerian youths to appropriate the opportunities in creative industry, which he noted, remains the second largest job generator in Nigeria after agriculture.

Maduekwe disclosed that the Nigerian Film Corporation signed a co-production agreement with France which would among other things, save Nigerians the resources of going to South Africa to shoot short films as well as attract foreign investors in the entertainment sector.

He equally disclosed that Ohafia, his hometown, Yola, Asaba and some other towns across Nigeria have been selected for establishment of film and entertainment hubs, declaring that” Nigerian music is making waves around the world and there can’t be a better music without a good video.

On recent appointment of Senator Ifeanyi Araraume as the board chairman of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Ltd, he commended President of Buhari for the development while assuring that ongoing federal government projects in the South East would be completed.
