Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi state has said that the state will not vote for Peter Obi, Labour Party in the 2023 Presidential elections. Umahi who stated this in Abakaliki during the stakeholders meeting and swearing in of new commissioners and special Assistants said Ebonyi will only vote for the All Progressives Congress (APC) which according to him has been so good to the state through various support to his administration.

He further stated that the state that the Labour Party has helped should vote for the party and urged the people of the state to reject the party. “Our party is APC and not the Labour Party. We will not vote for the Labour Party, we will vote for APC. “We will vote for our presidential candidate in the person of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu. “The states that the Labour Party has helped should vote for them. The agenda of God for Ebonyi State is Ebonyi State agenda and that is what you should be telling them when they come to ask you will you vote for us?

“Tell them do not look for our votes, our votes belong to APC. “Tinubu started with only one state and used it to liberate his people. We have to liberate ourselves from our brothers and sisters in the South East, we need it. We need to tell all of them that we have risen,”

“We must strive to liberate Ebonyi State and that is our agenda,” Umahi said. Those sworn in include Celestine Nwali, who takes over from Onyekachi Nwaebonyi as Commissioner for Capital Territory Development.

Chief Mattias Adum was assigned to the Ministry of Lands and Survey while Chief Romanus Nwasum is to oversee the Ministry of Infrastructural Development for Concession.

Others include Chief Chris Uchaji (Ministry of Solid Mineral Development), Mrs. Beatrice Eze (Ministry of Culture and Tourism), Chief Chuks Okoh (Special Assistant on Strategies) and Uchenna Otu (Special Assistant on Transport).

The governor who frowned at the low rate of voter registration in the state directed the stakeholders to brace up and ensure that people get registered before June 30.

“Unfortunately, the different local government areas in the state are yet to witness a high turnout of voters for registration apart from Afikpo South where 71,000 have so far been registered,” he said.
