Ahead of the 2023 general elections, a female aspirant Hon. Mrs. Ngozi Okafor has declared her interest to vie for the Ohaji Egbema, Oguta and Oru West Federal constituency.
Addressing Journalists in Imo state, Okafor who hails from Nkwesi in Oguta Local government stated that her intention to run for the position is hinged on her belief that her representation will deliver the true dividends of democracy.
“My desire to run for this election is because women’s political participation results in tangible gains that my federal constituency deserved for democracy, including greater responsiveness, increased cooperation across party and ethnic lines and more sustainable peace” she stated.
She noted that her federal constituency, the state and the federal government at large will tap from her wealth of knowledge and experience as a leader to bring peace and development in her area.
“Considering the statistics that show that women make up half of the world’s population, we should not expect men to do all the work, we must do our part”.
She revealed that her contribution towards governance is required for societal growth and development that will promote women and youths empowerment and peaceful coexistence. She expressed optimism that if given the opportunity to serve in the Federal House of Reps, she will create positive change.
“Paving the way for me in this aspiration is an investment for equity and sustainable change” she noted.
She urged everyone to key into nation building as she disclosed that it’s not the role of leaders alone but for the entire citizens. She maintained that she has benefited alot from the society and intends to give back to the society through quality representation.
