The Standards Organization of Nigeria (SON) has issued fresh and renewable Mandatory Conformity Assessment Programme (MANCAP) certificates to 20 manufacturing companies in Anambra.
Director-General of SON, Mr. Farouk Salim who issued the certificates in Awka, said the SON MANCAP scheme was a standardization process that was being used to help to make it easier for small and medium enterprises to compete internationally.
The DG, who was represented by Mr. Olalekan Omoniyi, said that while a product may be fit for a purpose in an environment, globalization ensures that products could no longer be restricted to a geographical location.
He noted that products manufactured in Anambra State might find its way to another locality and the MANCAP certificate, a means of showing the world that these products might be Made-in-Nigeria, “but they are Made-for-the World”.
“The companies we are issuing MANCAP which are certified for the whole African continent usage, included `Landum Aluminum, A-Z Petroleum Products Ltd, Rolex Aluminum, Ezebuike Aluminum, Godwin Okafor and Sons Ind. Ltd., Ken Maduako Group Ltd., Jezco Oil Ltd., e-Meks Aluminum Ltd, Seahorse Lubricants Ltd., Elobest Aluminum Ltd.

He commended the firms for submitting themselves for inspection and certification while urging them to endeavour to maintain the standards that earned them the approval or face their withdrawal and reprimand.
He said while MANCAP was revalidated every three years, e-Product registration for imported products must be renewed every year.
Each of the awardees must proudly display their MANCAP certification mark and the e-Product Registration marks on their products.
Responding on behalf of other awardees, General Manager, Dozzy Oil and Gas Ltd., Mr. Amechi Ifedinezi, whose products were revalidated, said that local industries were doing their best to produce quality products and lauded SON for its role at ensuring standards.
