Eighteen members of the Anambra State House of Assembly on the platform of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) have resolved to back the aspiration of the lawmaker representing Aguata Federal Constituency, Hon. Chukwuma Umeoji, to clinch the ticket of the party for the November 6, governorship election in the state.
Hon. John Nwakoye, representing Awka North State Constituency in the State House of Assembly, who disclosed this on behalf of others on Thursday, during the official inauguration of the Umeoji Campaign office opposite the State Government House, along Enugu-Onitsha expressway Awka, said the 18 lawmakers are supporting Umeoji, to win the APGA ticket and become the next governor of the State, because he is the only grassroot aspirant within the party who can maintained the already existing achievements of governor Willie Obiano.
According to him, for APGA to retain power in Anambra state, the party must give the ticket to someone who can carry members along irrespective of educational qualification.
The person must recognize the inputs of the local farmers, hunters, vigilantes, artisans, local traders and the less privileged who have been championing the sustainability of the party since its inception and not for educationists alone.
The aspirant, Hon. Chukwuma Umeoji in his remarks, said if given the party ticket he will do everything possible by God’s grace to win the election for APGA. He appealed to the National and State executives of the party not to allowed individual influences to determine who fly the party ticket for the sake of unity.
