The Federal Road Safety Corp (FRSC), Anambra State Command, has confirmed one person died and others injured in a fatal accident that involved a Suzuki Shuttle bus and a Mercedes Benz truck in Onitsha.
According to eyewitness, which had a total of four persons on board, suffered a tyre bus while on a high speed, resulting in one of the passengers jumping off and being crushed by the oncoming truck.
The State Sector Education Officer, Florence Edor, in a statement, said the accident occurred at about 3PM on Wednesday.
She said the injured had been taken to a hospital before the arrival of FRSC rescue team, while the deceased was deposited at a morgue.
FRSC admonished motorists to avoid buying old tyres which could easily burst when exposed to intense heat.
She also advised motorists to drive safely in order to stay safe during the yuletide.
