Eleven lecturers at the Godfrey Okoye University, Enugu, have been conferred with professorial chair.
The Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Christian Anieke while speaking at the investiture of the professors, yesteday, charged them to be the best in their various academic fields.
Anieke noted that professor is a designation for a special class of teachers that embodies the highest epistemic, academic and ethical standard, as well as ideas of their field of research and studies.
He stated: “It is a very important day in the life of our university for the promotion of all these professors. It is a joyful event. It’s the first time in Nigerian university when professors are actually recognized for what they have done. We call it professorial investiture”
“Today, we also celebrate someone who served this university with incredible sense of commitment to duty, Prof. Mark Chijioke. Prof. Mark Chijioke has been named the first emeritus professor of our university after serving this university and retiring with unblemished dignity. He has become our role model as professor, a model of commitment to research and duty, teaching, mentorship, epistemic soundness and ethical impeccability”

The 11 professors inducted into professorship of the university include: Prof. Mark Chijioke (Professor Emeritus), Prof. Serguis Udeh of Accounting, Prof Titus Nwanne of Banking and Finance, Prof. Nicholas Alizeobodo of Public Administration and Prof. Michael Nwafor of Banking and Finance.
Others are: Prof. Regina Udabah of English Language, Stylistic; Prof. Marysylvia Nwachukwu of Religion/ Biblical Theology, Prof. Donatus Nwobodo of Education Foundation, Prof. Felicia Ene of Language Education, English; Prof. Ndidiamaka Michael Ozofor of Mathematics and Prof Innocent Uzoechi of History.
