Abia and Anambra state governments have announced new school resumption dates following the new wave of the Corona Virus sweeping across the country.
While Abia has slated January 11, Anambra has put January 18, 2021, as the date schools would be reopened for students.
Commissioner for Basic Education state government, Professor Kate Omenugha said the new resumption date is for the second half, first term of 2020/2021 academic session.
Omenugha, who had earlier given guidelines on COVID-19 subsists, urged school managers to ensure strict adherence to COVID-19 rules.
The statement said, “School managers are reminded to enforce mask wearing, regular temperature checks, washing of hands with soap and other Covid-19 prevention protocols”.
In a similar vein, a statement from the Abia State , Commissioner of Education, Professor Kanelechi Nwangwa said the schools would resume to continue 2020/2021 academic session .
The statement also directed that all schools must adhere to Covid -19 rules to ensure that pupils and staff are protected from the pandemic.
