Four persons have been paraded in Umuahia by the Abia State Command of Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps( NSCDC) for allegedly stealing air conditioners belonging to the Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC).
The four suspects were alleged to have stolen seven units of air conditioners from dump sites of Nigeria Communications Commission at Afara and Olokoro communities of Umuahia North and South LGAs recently.
Parading the suspects at NSCDC headquarters along Aba road, Umuahia, State Commandant of NSCDC, Mr. Ayinla Taiye Olowo disclosed that the suspects were nabbed through intelligence reports received from patriotic members of the public.
The Civil Defense Commandant said Amadi Amaechi (21 years) and Innocent Chimezie (20 years) allegedly conspired and stole the seven units of air conditioners, an act he described as economic sabotage.
He added that one of the suspects, Amadi Maduka (33 years) allegedly bought five units of the stolen items the remaining two units were allegedly sold to a brother to one of the suspects.
The Commandant commended the the members of the public for supplying the useful information which assisted in the arrest of the suspects.
Olowo promised that the suspects would be charged to Court at the conclusion of investigations.
