At least three persons were reportedly killed by stray bullets in Ayetoro, Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State following a clas between men of the Customs and Excise and youth of the area.
The incident, it was gathered, happened at the Kikelomo area in Ayetoro early Tuesday morning.
The men of Nigeria Customs Service were said to have stormed the area following a tip-off of smuggling activities.
The Punch reports that the stray bullets were alleged to have been fired by customs officers who had gone to the area to evacuate the alleged smuggled bags of rice.
One of the victims, Sola, was reportedly shot while riding a motorcycle in the area.
The Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Customs Service, Ogun Command, Ahmed Oloyede, could not be reached as of the time of filing this report.
