Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu has inspected the Mother and Child hospital in Umuahia to ascertain the level of works in the project.
The Governor, who carried out the inspection on Tuesday in the company of his wife, Nkechi and Abia State commissioner for health, Dr. Joe Osuji, toured round the building and expressed his satisfaction at the level of works achieved so far.
He explained that the hospital, which is important in the saving of lives of pregnant, nursing mothers and little children, would be equipped with modern laboratories, radiography, pharmacy, theatre among others.
He used the occasion to announce that Abia State had already taken delivery of two container loads of medical equipment donated to the State by one Dr. Jackson, a Colorado, United States of America-based medical professional, adding that the donation was as a result of collaboration between his administration and Abians in diaspora.
Ikpeazu maintained that sound health for Abians, especially the pregnant and nursing mothers, together with the children occupied important area of his administration’s goals, promising that the hospital would serve as one of his legacy projects.
