Anambra State Traditional Rulers have taken part in the COVID-19 community testing.
The test was carried out by medical personnel from the state Ministry of Health at the Traditional Rulers Council Chambers, Government House, Awka, on Wednesday. The test became necessary to ensure that none of the royal fathers is infected by the virus.
In his brief remark, the chairman Anambra state Traditional Rulers Council, Obi Alfred Achebe (Obi of Onitsha), reminded the royal fathers that COVID 19 test is not a death sentence but is a key to early detection which he said increases chances of survival.

Obi Achebe who spoke through his deputy, Igwe Sunday Okafor of Okpuno regretted that some Nigerians still believe that COVID 19 is not real, urging them to resist fear and avail themselves of the free COVID 19 test insisting that health is wealth.
In their separate speeches, some of the Traditional Rulers, including Igwe Kenneth Orizu of Nnewi, Igwe Pius Omachonu of Olumbanasaa in Anambra West and Igwe Felix Onyimadu of Ukpor, among others who have undergone the test appreciated the efforts of Governor Willie Obiano and the state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Vincent Okpala for taken proactive measures aimed at curbing the spread of the virus in Anambra.

The royal fathers urged government to extend the COVID 19 test to all the 181 communities in the state to enable their subjects to benefit.
They promised to join to ensure full enforcement of COVID 19 protection guidelines to their subjects.
The state Diseases Surveillance and Notification Officer, Mrs. Nelly Dike in an interview explained that the second wave of COVID 19 is more serious and expressed satisfaction with the turn out of the traditional rulers and noted that collection of the sample will enable them identify those that have it for them to be treated as according to her, knowing their status will help curb the spread in their various communities.
