The Federal House of Representatives member, Hon. Ferdinand Dozie Nwankwo, representing Dunukofia/ Njikoka/Anaocha Federal Constituency of Anambra State, has promised to support the elimination of sickle cell diseases in Nigeria.
Hon. Nwankwo, gave the promised on Tuesday, when he paid a visit at the Sickle Cell Orphanage & Underprivileged Home in Agulu, in Anaocha local government area of the State, to familiarize himself with the management of the home and seek ways to promote the standard of healthcare for sickle cell persons in the constituency and creating exceptional awareness on sickle cell.
He stated that he was motivated by the level of care and dedication from the staff of the home and assured to lead debate at the lower house to ensure a legal frame work that will strengthen existing structure, encourage and strengthen support groups to be able to assess the effectiveness or otherwise of the control strategies in place to eliminate sickle cell disease in the country.
