10 states and the Federal Capital Territory reported 129 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, according to figures released on Saturday by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control.

The agency also reported 16 additional COVID-19 related deaths.

The NCDC disclosed this on its official Facebook page on Saturday.

Katsina recorded the highest number of new infections with 53 cases followed by Kwara – 32, Osun – 8, Plateau – 8, Rivers – 6, Kaduna – 6, FCT – 5, Kano – 5, Oyo – 4, Jigawa – 1, Bauchi – 1

The health agency said the 129 new COVID-19 infections have brought the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country to 213,076.

However, 205,483 COVID-19 patients have recovered and have been discharged in the country, the agency said.

With 16 COVID-19 related deaths reported, the death toll from the virus has risen to 2,949, NCDC said.

It added that a multi-sectoral national Emergency Operations Centre, activated at Level 2, had continued to coordinate the national response activities.
