…ACC reveals how political leaders sold Abia in idolatry, polluted her with rituals
…CAN youths vow to liberate Abia from bad leadership
The Abia Christian Community (ACC) and the Youth Wing of Christian Association of Nigeria (YOWICAN), Abia Chapter have called on Abians irrespective of religious and or political affiliations to get ready to stop irresponsible leaders in the 2023 election.
The two faith based bodies urged all Abians to take seriously, the ongoing voter registration across the country by the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC), obtain their Permanent Voters Card (PVC) to enable them to rewrite the unfortunate history of the state since her creation.
On the part of the ACC, they made their point known at a one-day special prayer session captioned “Opening The Gates Of Abia” with the theme, “Rebuilding The Broken Walls,” which took place at the Women Square, Aba Town Hall.
Pastor Chibuike Gad said that ACC’s parent bodies such as African Praise in Network (APNET), Nigerian Christian Graduate Fellowship (NCGF), Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and Aba City Elders (ACE) are liaising with the INEC so that the electoral body could take the registration exercise to all the churches in the state.
Gad, therefore, called on all Abians to seize the opportunity to obtain their PVCs and prepare for the big task of setting the state free from godfatherism, maladministration, incompetence and unbridled corruption.
He lamented that Abia state has become a laughing stock in the comity of states in Nigeria and like Jerusalem of old is in deep distress, with poverty, decayed infrastructural facilities, misery and other woes becoming a daily companion of the citizens of the state.
Gad added that the nature of problems facing Abia state can only be solved through spiritual means just as the problems were brought about spiritually. He said, “In 2005, God said to one of His servants; your leaders for the desire of power sold Abia in Idolatry, polluted the land, with their numerous rituals.
“Therefore, the redemption of Abia lies in the hands of body Christ, and that if they fall to take responsibility, He will leave them with horns that will waste them.”
Gad said that ACC is aware that Abia state has a real-life leadership problem to solve and can no longer depend on the past and present non-performing political actors and their cronies to rescue the state, hence the prayer session to seek the face of God and his divine intervention.
He appealed to all Abians to get ready as it has liaised with all other men and women of goodwill who are getting ready to ensure that no one whose spiritual life is questionable, no one who has contributed in one way or the other in wrecking Abia is elected.
He added that anointed political sons who only do the biddings of their godfathers and cabals, and all those with a track record of corruption, will not be allowed to man the affairs of the state come 2023 by the grace of God.
Gad said that the mission of ACC and motive are completely devoid of politics, noting that it is not in any way aligned with, and or sympathetic to any political party or group.
“Ours is not a political party, but a strong pressure group geared towards good governance and value re-orientation to enthrone God-fearing leadership in the state.
“So we are calling on well-meaning Abians to get their PVCs and get ready for the divine assignment ahead,” Pastor Gad appealed,” he said.
Rev. Ignatius Anoruo, the Coordinator of Christian Pentecostal Mission (CPM), Abia and Ebonyi states lamented the serial leadership failure in Abia since the advent of the current Democratic dispensation in 1999.
He said that leadership failure in the state has culminated in a situation whereby Abia which prides itself as God’s own state is now a satanic state.
Anoruo added that there must be a big spiritual lacuna for a state that is supposed to be the number one to ironically be the last in all facets of human life.
“I am using this opportunity to appeal to Abians to arise and like Gideon did destroy the satanic altars and erect befitting altars for God so that Abia state will take its rightful place in the comity of states In Nigeria.”
The president Nigerian Christian Graduate Fellowship (NCGF) Barrister Ijeoma Njoku, revealed that the aim of the program is focused on making sure righteous leadership is enthroned in Abia State and that the state takes her pride in place as God’s Own State.
She called on churches to come together, pray and make sure the state elects righteous leaders.
In a similar move, the Youth Wing of Christian Association of Nigeria (YOWICA), Abia Chapter said it is engaging in political awareness creation to stop the enthronement of incompetent leaders in the state.
Chairman, YOWICAN, Abia Chapter, Uche Ogbuka disclosed this in an interview with the newsmen in Aba on Tuesday. Ogbuka said the awareness creations was motivated by the understanding that the lethargy and non-participation of citizens in electoral processes was breeding unfriendly leaders.
In his words, “We are concerned and as a result, we are raising political consciousness among citizens to avert the mistakes of the past.
“There is need for us even as a religious organization to be involved in the political awareness creation because everyone has felt the pains of bad governance so everyone should join hands to change things.
“In most cases, our elections are marred by low voter turnout and in the end, desperate politicians who have nothing to offer would have their way.
“In other cases, attempts are made to alter results by influencing the votes cast, that is the reason we are engaging the citizens to see why a lot of things have to change.”
Ogbuka said that religious bodies have a lot of roles to play in improving governance in Nigeria through condemning acts of corruption in government and helping to create a functioning system.
He said the country needs good governance at all levels adding that insecurity, unemployment, inflation, poverty, corruption, and infrastructural deficit were all indicators of bad governance in Nigeria.
He said, “We are raising consciousness to support leaders that would address these problems.”
