The Coalition of South East Youth Leaders (COSEYL), on Monday said it is alarmed over the vicious attack on Barr. Ifeanyi Ejiofor’s house, the lawyer to Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in his country home, Oraifite, Ekwusigo Local Government Area of Anambra state.
COSEYL said the attack which many media platforms have alleged came from a combination of police, operatives of Directorate of State Security Services (DSS), Civil Defence Corps, Police and soldiers, which allegedly invaded Ejiofor’s house has finally proved that there is a plot to exterminate Ndigbo.
News Echo gathered that during the attack, Ejiofor’s personal assistant, Mr. Samuel Okoro was allegedly killed by the combined team of security that invaded Ejiofor’s house.
COSEYL in a statement by the President General and Secretary General, Hon. Goodluck Ibem and Comrade Kanice Igwe respectively said that information available to them shows that the combined team of security operatives arrived his house by 2:30am to assassinate Ejiofor in his house, but he was not found.
The group said that Ndigbo are now endangered people because they are Christians living in a country governed by a Moslem president who is in full support of killing all South Easterners so that his Fulani tribe who are predominantly Muslims can take over South East lands for their cattle rearing.
“We can now confirm that the arms bought by the Federal Government from the United States of America are being used to assassinate Igbo Christians from the Southern part of the country. The Federal Government is on the verge of assassinating all Christians in Nigeria most especially from the South East.
“We put the international Community on notice that the sole aim of arms importation by the Federal Government is to assist murderous Fulani herdsmen, Boko Haram terrorists and other terrorists groups to exterminate the people of the South East who are predominantly Christians.
“The murderous Fulani herdsmen are Killing Igbos through Benue and Ebonyi state flank while the security agencies are killing Igbo from the Anambra and Imo state flank. There are unreported daily killings of innocent Igbo by security agencies.
“The South East is under serious siege by armed murderous Fulani terrorists and the Nigerian security forces. The security agencies are working hand in hand with murderous Fulani herdsmen to exterminate Ndigbo.”
COSEYL said that if Ejiofor, a renowned legal luminary who can defend himself in the court of law can be attacked in such a villainous manner by security agencies at midnight, one can imagine what the less privileged Igbo have been going through in the hands of the security agencies. The group demanded to know what crime Ejiofor committed to deserve such vicious attack on his family at such unholy hour.
“As a lawyer, he has right to defend whoever he so wishes in court. It is his inalienable right as a lawyer. Or is the Federal Government directly telling lawyers that they can only defend Boko Haram terrorists, ISIS, ISWAP and other terrorists groups from the north alone?.
“We need better explanation because it appears it is a dead sentence for any lawyer to defend anyone in court from the South East. We call on lawyers, professional and well meaning Nigerians to rise up and defend our democracy which is presently in comatose.
“With what is happening in the country, it appears that our constitution has been suspended and martial law is now what the Federal Government is using to administer the nation.”
Meanwhile, a former Minister for Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode said that the recent attack on Ejiofor is the second time that this has happened to the IPOB leader, adding that the last time they killed many people in his community and burnt many homes to ashes. Fani-Kayode through his official Face book account said, “This time around they killed his Personal Assistant, Mr. Samuel Okoro (AKA Biggy), who I knew very well and after shooting him dead they took his body and car away.
“They then parked the car in a Bush on the side of the road, put his body in it and burnt both body and car to cinders”. The Anambra State Commissioner of Police has said that he knows nothing about the raid on Ifeanyi’s home or who the perpetrators and assassins were.
“However Ifeanyi, who witnessed the entire event and called me twice as it was happening, has said that it was a joint operation of police, army and DSS operatives and that it was an attempt to kidnap, arrest and/or assassinate him. I have no reason to doubt him.
“Whoever those that launched the attack are and whoever sent them, let them know this: one day they will be identified, exposed, caught and brought to justice before a court of law for killing innocent and defenseless human beings. “I call them cold-blooded murderers and bloody cowards and I curse them and all that are theirs”.
“From generation to generation they shall be accursed and the Angel of the Lord shall torment them and pursue them along a dark and slippery path. They shall reap what they have sown and they shall drink full of the cup of sorrow, suffering and bitterness in the mighty name of Jesus. To my brother Ifeanyi Ejiofor I say take heart, stay safe and be strong. The Egyptians we see today, we shall see them no more.
“May the soul of Mr. Okoro and all the others that were killed in the raid on Ifeanyi’s home on Sunday RIP and May the Lord comfort their families.
“May God deliver us all from bloodthirsty and evil men. May the innocent blood that has been shed in our nation cry to God for vengeance and may the Lord visit His wrath upon those that delight in taking the lives of His children.”
