The National Association of Radio and Television Presenters of Nigeria (NARTPON) celebrated their second Anniversary Media Week Awards Dinner Night in grand style at Rento Hotel and Suites, Owerri, Imo State on Friday 20th October, 2023.
The week-long event peaked on Thursday 19th October with Road Show under Police escort and Novelty Games at Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri followed by the highlight on Friday 20th October.
The first session of activities on Friday started at 12:00pm with a lecture titled “Ethical Reportage during Elections” delivered by Prof. Samuel Ezeanyika, a professor of political economy at Imo State University which took place at the prestigious Rento Hotel and Suites.
It was followed at 2:00pm by “Meet Your Radio and Television Presenters”, during which fans interacted with their favourite presenters.
The Red Carpet session started at 5:00pm while the awards night Dinner kicked off at 7:00pm.
In his welcome speech, NARTPON Chairman, Comr. Jerry Osuji expressed happiness with the achievements of the association.
The venue was electrified with musical performance by the trio of the world’s best dancer in 1984, Chief Isaac Chinagorom, his wife, Gift and eight year-old daughter, Rita.
Among the personalities who received awards were HRM Eze Dr Emmanuel C. Okeke, CFR, Chairman of Imo State Council of Traditional Rulers, Royal Personality of the year; Sen. Darlington Eze Ajoku, Chairman of Darling FM, Humanitarian Excellence Personality of the year; High Chief Dr Summers Nwokie, Founder of Ikukuoma Sports Development Foundation, Philanthropist of the year; retired Deputy Inspector General of Police, High Chief Hillary Opara, Chairman of Villa Garden Hotel; Sir Stanley Amuchie, Executive Director of Fidelity Bank Plc–Banking Personality of the year and Chief Nwoha Ukaegbu–Veteran Broadcaster of the year.
Among the newly inaugurated Patrons were Prof. John Kennedy Opara, Chairman of Groove FM, Chief Dr Uzoma Obiyo–Chairman of Multinet Group, Chief Mrs. Ruby Emele, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs and Chief Dr. Leo Stan Ekeh-Chairman of Zinox Technologies Ltd.
Personalities present at the event were Evang. Dr. Bertram Uzodinma, Chairman of the Occasion, ace Broadcaster, Hon. Chief Chimamkpam Anyamkpa, Hon Engr. Chime Nzeribe, and Chief Dr. Fidel Onyeneke.
The event week ended on Sunday 22nd October, 2023 with a thanksgiving service at Christian Liberation Evangelical Mission, Owerri where the General Overseer, Bishop Chris Nwanna commended the members of the association for helping to change society for the better.
