A reality TV Star, Dorathy and an actress Lynda Clems, have lambasted parents for sending their children to boarding schools.
They expressed their pain on how parents pray to God to have kids but they send them away to schools thinking they will be disciplined there. They also said that if they cannot raise their children properly they should keep them in their houses and bear the consequences and not give them away to boarding schools.
It would be recalled that Sylvester Oromoni, a 12 year old student of Dowen College, Lagos State was allegedly beaten to death by his fellow students in school for refusing to join their cult.
The father of the boy while speaking to newsmen said that the boys mentioned were also reported to the school the previous term when they bullied their son and collected all his foodstuffs and clothes.
He also said that Dowen College had temporarily suspended the boys involved after the family’s eldest son took up the matter. He said that his son was put in a new hostel but the bullying and intimidation persisted into the new term.
The incident that blew the issue up came up on November 21st when the school had called the mother of Sylvester to notify them that their son was in the school clinic injured and the boy couldn’t stand because his waist was bent and swollen along with one side of his belly. His mouth was black due to an injury sustained there and was taken home.
The father of the boy made known to the public that his son suffered liver enlargement due to congealed blood and he also claimed that his son was fed with a chemical for refusing to join the group.
He also added that the parents of the students involved are wealthy and withdrew their kids from the school and some of the parents were planning to fly their children out of the country. He mentioned that the boys are five in number, four in SS2 while the last one is in SS1.
