…Innoson withdraws scholarship, Bitcoin Chief insists on foreign scholarship promise
… Blames action on Govt and public officers moral abuse
Following Miss Ejikeme Mmesoma’s confession of faking her Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME, score, the Chairman of Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing, Chief Innocent Chukwuma, has announced the withdrawal of the scholarship he offered her.
This came as Mmesoma’s father, Romanus Ejikeme, tendered an unreserved apology to JAMB and Nigerians on the unfortunate action of his daughter.
Chief Chukwuma, the Innoson boss, said that he had already deposited N3 million into a dedicated account for Mmesoma’s university education following a report that she scored highest in the examination conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB.
A statement by Innoson Group Head of Corporate Communications & Affairs, Cornel Osigwe said in parts: “It was reported initially that Miss Joy scored exceptionally high on the exam, a feat that led to her being awarded a scholarship by our company.
“However, subsequent reports of discrepancies in her UTME score led us to seek clarification from the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and to allow her to voice her stance, we engaged in direct dialogue with Miss Joy.
“In line with these principles and response to the confirmed findings, we have made the difficult decision to withdraw the scholarship awarded to Miss Joy Mmesoma Ejikeme. This action is a testament to our unyielding commitment to honesty, integrity, and merit-based recognition.
Meanwhile, the father of the girl, Mr Romanus Ejikeme, in his apology, admitted that Mmesoma lied about her UTME scores.
He regretted all his comments and actions on the matter, saying that his daughter did not open up to him.
“My daughter didn’t open up to me on time. When I realized what she did, I regretted all my earlier actions on this matter. I apologize to Nigerians and JAMB. I still beg JAMB and Nigerians to pardon her”, Ejikeme said.
However, the Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo has directed that Mmesomma Joy Ejikeme, the female pupil who falsified her Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) be handed over to the State Guidance Counselor and Professor of Clinical Psychology.
Soludo, in a letter to Principal of Anglican Girls Secondary School Nnewi where Mmesoma is a student, further directed immediate commencement of psychological counseling and therapy session for Mmesomma, who on Thursday, July 6, 2023 admitted she manipulated the fake results she had been parading.
In the letter signed by the Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, the governor said the directive followed one of the recommendations of the panel constituted to investigate the matter.
“The directive is in line with one of the recommendations of the Committee set up by Anambra State Government to investigate the matter, following the parading of the fake results which elicited interests and generated controversy and misgivings the general public,” the statement added.
It a total twist, Gaius Chibueze, a popular entrepreneur and Bitcoin chief, says he will still sponsor Joy Mmesoma to study overseas despite admitting to a panel of independent investigators set up by the Anambra State Government that she forged her 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination results.
Gaius, who claimed President Bola Tinubu forged his academic certificate, advised Nigerians not to ‘destroy a little girl’s future because of a forged certificate’.
He also claimed young people wouldn’t see a reason to forge certificates if the country’s president had authentic academic certificates.
In his words: “I will still sponsor Mmesoma. Whether she agreed or not that’s not my problem. Suppose illegality was not celebrated openly like INEC swearing in a President who didn’t win the Elections.
” A president with a Forged Certificate and no trace of Primary to University Education, If Nigeria didn’t celebrate Elected officials who rig elections, etc. Young people won’t see a reason to forge certificates and be celebrated openly. While we address this, we must look at the entire society.
” If you want us to accept, celebrate and defend a President who rigged Election with Forged Certificate, we must also not destroy Little Girl’s future with a forged certificate.
“I will personally call her and explain to her that JAMB numbers don’ t define how far she can go in life and next time she shouldn’ t bother Forging one. I and our company @voiceoftheeast will still SPONSOR her!
“Whenever we are ready to clean the mess society has become we will start with public officials many who are elected with forged certificates.
They are the bad examples People like Mmesoma are copying from.
She has made a mistake and she must be corrected and shown the right path for next time.”
