“Join cult, get expelled”, MOUAU warns new students

The Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof Maduebibisi Ofor Iwe has warned new students of the University against joining any cult group. He warned that any student who who joins cultism would be instantly expelled.

The VC dropped the warning at MOUAU campus in Umudike during the 29th Matriculation ceremony of the University.

He described his school as a home of learning and productivity and as such can not be allowed to be used as a den of cultists.

The VC said a total of 6,802 students were admitted during the ceremony. Iwe warned the fresh students that their admissions would be withdrawn if they go against the extant rules of the school.

The Vice Chancellor also warned against examination malpractices and indecent dressings. Iwe further lamented the effects of cultism on Nigerian university which has led to loss of lives and destruction of bright future.

The Vice Chancellor used the occasion to advise any new student who was in cultism to immediately renounce be thrown away by the school education.

His words: “It is imperative to make it abundantly clear to the freshmen and women, that anyone of you who allows himself/herself to be lured and initiated into cult groups shall be shown his/her way out of the University.

“Furthermore, if you were initiated before you arrived here, you have an opportunity to totally renounce cultism and repudiate it today.” Prof. Iwe appealed to parents to promptly pay their children’s fees and to closely monitor their academic and behavioral performances.
