The Imo State Woman Leader of Young Progressives Party (YPP) and a rights activist, Ambassador Chika Uju, has entirely condemned the maltreatment of an 8 years old Miss Oluebube Nneji by her guardians at Akpugo, Nkanu West Local Government Area, Enugu State, recently.

The Imo State based journalist who reacted to the abuse going viral in the media of how the 8 years old Miss Oluebube Nneji was heartlessly brutalised by her guardians, told our reporter in Owerri on Wednesday that the abuse on the little girl was a sad one, stressing that children who are gifts from God who ought to be cared for absolutely are today being maltreated on daily basis because they share no blood ties with their guardians especially those who behave beastly.

“Children need our care absolutely whether biological children or not. Because they are gifts from God who says the Kingdom of God is for children. Hence, the man that perpetrated the evil on the little girl should be brought to book to pose as detriment to others with such ugly intention. Please, the law enforcement agency should not leave any stone unturned to unravel this case and bring those guardians to justice”.

Thus, she flayed the attitude of some parents and guardians who maltreat children without remorse and regard to their fundamental human rights especially those who work as house-helps and caregivers, stressing that parents should always strive to take up responsibility for their children no matter the cost or circumstances as they will equally reap goodies from them at the end of the day if they are well taken care of.

Thanking God for the life and sanity of the 8 years old Miss Oluebube Nneji who she said could have been raped or even killed in the process of the brutality, Uju decried the ill- action of those guardians, calling for full scale prosecution by the law.

She advised parents to be “mindful of those they give out their children to as the world is wicked and the hearts of some men are evil”, she regretted.
