A lecturer with the Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike Ikwo (AE-FUNAI), Ebonyi State, Kyrian Nwoke, has been has been found dead in Abakaliki.
His lifeless body was found along Abakaliki Rice mill axis of Ogoja road with bullet wounds.
It was gathered that the deceased who taught in the Department of Physiology in AE-FUNAI was using his car for a taxi in order to fend for himself and his family following the hardship occasioned by the lingering dispute between the federal government and ASUU which has led to the withholding of salaries of lecturers for months.
Nwoke was said to have gone missing on Sunday night after yet-to-be-identified persons phoned him to come to Udemezue in Abakaliki to pick customers to a popular eatery along Ogoja Road.
According to a colleague who spoke to our reporter ”Kyrian Nwoke was a lecturer in the Physiology Department at Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu Alike Nigeria. He was also a Ph.D. student.
“As a result of the hardship occasioned by the prolonged ASUU strike and FG withholding of lecturers salaries for over six months, he registered his car under the online taxi service to make ends meet.
“On Sunday, January 10, he was called to go and pick customers at Udemezue street and drop them at a popular eatery known for local delicacies at Ogoja road Abakaliki.
“He never returned from that journey as his lifeless body with a bullet wound was discovered the next day near the Rice Mill along the same Ogoja road and his car missing”.
“But the Security agents should do the needful and fish out the perpetrators of this dastardly act”.
A police spokesman in the state, Loveth Odah, could not be reached for comment at the time of filling the report.
