A patent medicine dealer simply identified as Esther from Ado Local Government Area of Benue state, in the early hours of Monday, January 11, burnt her boyfriend, Elvis Chidinma Omah from Nsuka local Government Area of Enugu State to death in Makurdi.
The eighteen old girl, a patent medicine dealer, who just returned to Makurdi after Christmas and New Year holiday the previous weekend was said to be in the village since Wednesday, 23rd December, 2020.
News Echo gathered that trouble started shortly after Esther was told by her friends that Chidinma travelled to his village to pay a bride price on another girl, an allegation he vehemently denied when he was confronted by Esther but she was not satisfied with his answer.
Esther consequently went to an undisclosed filling station with a gallon on Sunday evening and procured premium motor spirit (PMS) commonly known as petrol in line with her dastard plan to burn Chidinma.
Sources claimed that Esther went to her boyfriend’s house in the early hours of Sunday, stayed with him and pretended as if all was well as they ate and played together throughout the night until both of them fell asleep.
It was further learnt that Esther woke up in the wee hours and went straight to where she kept the fuel opposite Chidinma’s house, brought it to the room, poured the fuel round inside the room while Chidinma was still sleeping and set him ablaze before escaping from the scene.
When contacted, the Police Public Relationship Officer, PPRO, Benue State Police Command, Catherine Anene confirmed the tragic incident and the eventual arrest of the suspect Esther.
The PPRO said investigation is still ongoing to unravel the ugly situation.
Meanwhile, Chidinma’s remains have been conveyed to Nsukka by his parents.
