Sex slavery: Police arrest 35 underaged girls in Anambra

It was another break through for police operatives of the Anambra state command as thirty five under aged sex workers were on Monday arrested in at Gally Gally hotel Nkpor, Idemili north local government area.

The police also recovered in their possession one pump action gun, a cash sum of Eight hundred and seventy seven thousand, five hundred naira and also arrested three other persons said to be in charge of the hotel.

Confirming the report, police image maker, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu On behalf of the Commissioner of police Anambra State disclosed this to News Echo on Wednesday, 15th June.

According to him, “Following a rigorous analysis of crime trends and pattern, the Command Operatives on 13th June, 2022, working on information busted a hotel named Gally Gally in Nkpor where they use children between the ages of 14years – 17years for sex slaves, prostitution and baby factory”.

“The Operatives rescued, 35 girls and 4 of them are pregnant. The police also arrested 3persons namely: Mrs Ifeoma Uzo age ‘F’ 35yrs, Chidiebere Alaka ‘M’ 28years and Nweke Chidiebere. We recovered three pump action gun, seven cartridges and cash sum of Eight hundred and seventy seven thousand, five hundred naira (#877,500). The Suspects arrested are being interrogated with a view to eliciting information on their involvement and unmasking other gang members”.

“We also have NATIP here, whom we shall hand over the victims for the welfare and rehabilitation of the children. All suspects will charged to court at the end of investigations”.

The statement further noted that “What we doing today is not only showcase the achievement of the command but to advice parents and guardians to always create a deliberate relationship with their children and wards. This will help to guide and direct them in their activities. It will help to monitor against unforeseen issues and bad company.”
