NYCN warns drug dealers in Anambra

The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Anambra state chapter has issued a forty eight hours ultimatum to dealers and peddlers of illicit drugs in Anambra to leave the state or face any consequences that may arise if found guilty.

The group made this known in Awka during the flag off campaign against hard drugs, methamphetamine crystals (mkpurummiri) with the theme: “Say no to Hard Drugs” last week to sensitize the public of the dangers of consuming illicit drug.

News Echo who took part in the road show reports that the group in company of the Federal Road Safety Awka, command and some of the serving youth corps members started from Aroma Junction to Zik avenue, Eke Awka roundabout to Unizik temp site and finally converged at the Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS), Awka.

Speaking, the Anambra state leader, Comr. Egwuatu Samuel noted that meth is a new drug name in the Nigerian society today and that the rate at which the young ones consume it is becoming a serious threat. He added that “the illicit consumption of methamphetamine is making our youths to display violent attitudes, destruction and distraction while causing madness to some of them.

“So the NYCN has painstakingly taken up this drive to sensitive the general public on the need to desist from illegal consumption of the drugs”. He however urged the youths to turn to more productive way by enduring in entrepreneurship studies and vocation so as to make them productive members of the society.
Also speaking, Coordinator, NYCN Awka South, Comrade Nkala Stanley outlining possible strategy for total elimination of hard drugs and its abuse in Awka south opined that “we declare no to excessive intake of drug, if you’re a dealer, a supplier or an agent you have only 24 hours to leave Anambra state.
