A tricycle driver (keke driver), Goddy Asogwa from Nsuka Enugu State has been apprehended by Woliwo Vigilante Service at Woliwo Onitsha with a stolen water pumping machine.
The incident happened at 16 Akunne Ekwensi Street Woliwo layout Onitsha on Wednesday.
An eye witness, Mr. Ifeanyi Ede told News Echo that the keke man, Goddy Asogwa came with the tricycle in company of another man and parked at the front of the house, they alighted from the tricycle and went straight into the compound and carried the water pumping machine belonging to the landlady and put it at the backseat of the tricycle, but an eagle eyed tenant saw them and started questioning them on who sent them to carry the water pumping machine which they claimed was for repairs.
However, when the questioning became so intense, his accomplice took to his heels and bolted away leaving his partner behind with the stolen item. Alarm raised by the tenant attracted passers-by who descended on the keke man with blows and kicks before the vigilante men came and took him away to their office to avoid him being lynched.
However, he has since being handed over to the police for further interrogation to unravel the truth behind his actions as he claimed he was engaged on charter at #1500 for his services to carry the item by the runaway passenger.
