Abia State Governor-elect, Dr Alex Otti has warned members of the outgoing government and other individuals that public resources of the State would not be allowed to be stolen. This is even as he has advised anyone in possession of government funds or property to return them peacefully in his or her own interest. Otti who gave the warning after receiving his Certificate of Returns as the duly elected Governor of Abia, condemned the situation where some individuals cornered State’s resources to themselves while majority Abians suffered in poverty. He made it clear that his mission as Governor was not to witch-hunt anyone but to fix and develop Abia. His words: “We are not going to chase away anybody but whosoever has government property or collected its money illegally must return them. “I call upon those who have looted Abia funds to return it immediately. We can’t allow out resources to be converted to a private estate while Abians are wallowing in abject poverty”. The Labour Party man contested for office of Governor in 2015 and 2019 before vying for the seat once in again in 2023, and successfully uprooted PDP from 24 years of rulership in Abia.
