Two giant billboards belonging to two chieftains of the All Progressive Congress (APC) were
last weekend, allegedly destroyed by suspected hoodlums in Umuahia.

Also, party flags of the party were also allegedly pulled down and destroyed by the invaders.
The incident took place at about 1:00 am, Friday at Uyo street headquarters of the APC.
The attackers, according to a security man guarding the party office, were about 20 in number and allegedly sang anti- Ikechi Emenike songs, before pulling down the billboards and flags.

The security man who did not want his name in print, also alleged that he helplessly watched from a hidden corner while the suspected arsonists tore the images of the party leaders to shreds, claiming that the attackers even threatened to vandalise the entire building.

Confirming the attack, the administration officer of the party, Mr. Stanley Chidi and APC State Organizing Secretary, Mr. Obinna Atuonwu respectively, expressed shock at the dastardly act by the unknown men and promised to report the matter to the Police for investigation and protection.

Stanley while condemning the attack, said he arrived the party secretariat at dawn to behold the debris of torn billboards and flags.
Also condemning the attack, the Organizing secretary Obinna Atuonwu told Journalists, “we have been receiving threats since our congress was recognized by the national leadership of our great party.”

Atuonwu continued, “Now that threats have started manifesting in vandalism, the Abia APC leadership will without delay, petition the Police and ask for protection before things get out of hand”.
But the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of Abia State Police Command, Geoffrey Ogbonna could not reply to a message sent to him on the matter.
