Eleven members of the newly formed Rivers State task force on illegal trading and motor parks have been relieved of their duties for allegedly collecting bribe.
The task force personnel who were sacked on 7th January, 2021, allegedly extorted money from members of the public around Choba area in Obui/Akpor Local Government Area.
The new coordinator of the taskforce, DSP Felix Nwadibe (rtd) who revealed this in Port Harcourt, said he received several reports against them.
While expressing concern that they carried out the act despite several warnings before the commencement of the new exercise, Nwadibe said the sack would serve as a deterrent to any member of the taskforce who wants to carry out such act.
He also expressed satisfaction at the level of performance of members of the taskforce.
