A retired manager of an undisclosed oil company Engr. Gregory Duru was in the early hours of Tuesday, November 17, sent to his early grave by yet-to-be apprehended assassins, at his residence, around Area H, New Owerri Imo State.

Eye witness accounts have it that the assassins who struck in the early hours of the faithful day, between 12-1 am, scaled their way through the perimeter fence, climbed through the seat-out and gained entry into the man’s room through the ceiling.

They were said to have stabbed him severally in the chest and other parts of his body, to make sure he was completely dead. It was however reported that the man did not die instantly, as he contacted his younger brother and other relatives who also contacted men of the Nigerian Police, who rushed him to a hospital, before he finally gave up the ghost.

His remains were said to have been deposited at the Morgue of the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Owerri.
Investigations by our correspondent revealed that Duru lived in his duplex with one of his nieces, a cook and a lady, who resides in the security house of the building.

His first wife was said to be late, while he was separated with the second wife. His daughter was said to be overseas.
When contacted over the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer, of Imo State Police Command, (PPRO) S.P Ikeokwu Orlando said he was yet to be briefed, promising to contact the New Owerri DPO for further information.
