ASPON cautions against piracy in Anambra

A total of one hundred and fifteen members of Anti-Piracy Society of Nigeria, Anambra state chapter have been inaugurated, cautioning against piracy.
News Echo who covered the event during the weekend in Awka reports that the Anti-Piracy society mission is to make effective, substantial and enduring contribution to Nigeria’s effort in combating counterfeiting and piracy through value reorientation training, information sharing and awareness campaigns on consumer goods and services.

Speaking during the opening remark, the Director General of APSON, Frank Uduonu said the anti piracy is mandated to rid the society of counterfeit/pirated products and ensure that there is total sanity.

He reiterated that community education and awareness remain one of the strong strategies that will inform the public the dangers of fake products and possible penalties that await offenders.

Rev. Fr. Martins Oranusi while appreciating the convenience and number of inductees charged them to take up the onerous task of piracy in Anambra state.
Anambra Police Commissioner, Echeng represented by the Deputy Police Officer, B Division Awka Sani Ahmed advised them to carry out their duties without any fear adding that there are legal and security assistance, while urging them not to take laws into their hands but report cases to police for appropriate actions.

Nweze Anthony representing the Nigeria Civil Defence said they were happy to welcome a sister agency that will assist them fight against piracy. He called on them to be alert in the discharge of duties.
FRCS commander represented by PM Akpotobo, informed the inductees that the inauguration has changed their status, noting that the FRSC, is fully in collaboration with the agency to ensure that the originality of products especially plate numbers are achieved.
