Men of the Abia State Community Policing/Vigilante Okpulor Umuobo unit, Osisioma Ngwa Command have arrested 3 suspects who allegedly specializes in stealing of armoured cable and looting of shops in Aba.
The arrest was made on Tuesday by the Vigilante group. A top community policing/vigilante official Mr Ernest Nwazu who led the operation, said that the suspects – Uchenna Ahiwe, Chinweike Nwamini and Kingsely Nwauzor were arrested in their hideout in Okpu Umuobo at about 3.00hrs through sufficient intelligence gathering. Nwazu stated that one Mohammed was first arrested and after interrogation, he led the vigilante to the other 3 members of the gang who were arrested.
He added that further investigation revealed that one Mohammed was a dealer who procured vandalized cables from the members of the gang. The state Commandant, Abia State Community Policing/vigilante Dr Daniel Iheadindueme while handing over the suspects to the Police authorities for further investigation and prosecution, assured the public that his men would b intensify efforts to checkmate crime in the State.
He further decried the inability of the Abia State government in empowering his men who have been working assiduously hard in the discharge of their duties throughout the 17 Local government areas in the State with vehicles and security gadgets required to combat the escalating crime in the State. Meanwhile, the arrested vandals have been handed over to the Rapid Response Squad, Aba North command for further investigations.
