No fewer than 28 persons suspected to have vandalised various public facilities in Rivers State have been arrested.
The suspects arrested by officials of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) allegedly vandalised rail track plates and oil wellheads, and also engaged in illegal oil deals.
The state commandant of the corps Muktar Lawal paraded the suspects yesterday, saying that 160 vehicles impounded for illegal activities have been forfeited to the Federal Government.
He said, “Suspected vandalised rail track slippers were recovered along Komkom rail line in Oyigbo Local Government Area”.
Muktar said two saw blades, a measuring tape and a cylinder flame torch were recovered from the suspects.
