About 20 persons are feared dead in a cult war at Andoni and Port Harcourt Local Government Areas LGAs.
Confirming the incidence, the Police Public Relations Officer Chief Superintendent of Police CSP, Nnamdi Omoni told newsmen that the Commissioner of Police CP, Rivers State Police Command, Mr Eboka Friday, had launched a full scale Investigation into what he described as the ‘dastardly attack’, with a view to arresting the perpetrators and bringing them to justice.
CSP Omoni further noted that meanwhile the area is calm with, reinforced and increased joint Patrols of that stretch and other areas in the State by the security agencies.
In a related development, the PPRO confirmed a reported case of gunshots at White junction area near a Humanity hotels, Rupokwu in Obio/Akpor LGA, about 8pm, Saturday night and early morning of yesterday, as Police arrested large numbers of suspects all male in between ages of 19 to 23, based on credible intelligence.
The Rivers Police Command has also confirmed that there was a gang clash in the Diobu town of Port Harcourt Local Government Area, PHALGA, between two rival cult groups on Friday, at about 1500hrs, at which unknown gunmen were shooting sporadically at the Railway axis. According to the PPRO, “on the receipt of the distress call, Operatives of the Diobu Division mobilized massively to the scene, but unfortunately on arrival, the cultists had taken to flight.”
