To restore peace, comfort and security in Orsu Local Government Area of Imo State, elites of the locality, involving traditional rulers, political and business class, religious bodies and youth organizations have begged aggrieved groups who they accused of disrupting the peace of the area to repent, surrender their arms, embrace peace and get amnesty from government.

The people who arose from a meeting held in Owerri on Saturday told journalists that for about 3 years insecurity has bedeviled the area, forcing many indigenes out of the locality who they said hardly return home given to the menace of insurgency.

Speaking through President of Odimma Orsu Initiative, Eze -elect, Eze E.I Nwokeji, the people said they have resolved to restore normalcy and calmness in Orsu so that peace, conviviality, comfort and boon in commercial activities will become the order of the day in the agrarian and commercially thriving communities.

Nwokeji hinted that they are working in consonance with Imo State government to engage the aggrieved groups to surrender their arms and ammunition and get amnesty, stating that the aggrieved persons are given two weeks ultimatum to surrender or face stiff action. On the other hand, the stakeholders had demanded that government pulls out the Police, the Military and Ebubeagu Militia out of the area to let the aggrieved persons sheath their swords. “Insecurity in Orsu has lingered.

The positive agitation by IPOB was hijacked by some persons who forced many indigenes out of Orsu enclave. The essence of the meeting is to find a permanent solution. We gave the aggrieved groups two weeks to repent, surrender their arms to give peace a chance. Those who repent will be granted amnesty by the Imo State government who is firmly determined to rekindle peace and tranquillity in Orsu and environs and we are partnering to make a head way in that regard”, Nwokeji maintained.
