The Imo state government has through the office of the coordinator of Mbaitolu east coordinator Hon. Prince Ugonna Chiji Achoku empowered over 200 women in the development area drawn across the 78 polling units in the area.
Speaking at the occasion tagged shared prosperity women empowerment, the coordinator said women are the epitome of wealth and power and play an important role in the society as well as the whole family dependent on women for its daily activities.
He disclosed that the governor senator Hope Uzodimma decided to empower women based on the global gender bias like poverty and inequality undermining the social fabric and denying women some of their rightful positions politically, economically amongst others.
He maintained that the governor has also given several appointments to women to bridge the gender gap.
While speaking the coordinator told the women that the governor has their interest at heart and would do more for them if they give their maximum support for his reelection.
The coordinator while reeling out some of his numerous achievements disclosed that the development centre is a link between the government and the people of Mbaitoli East and promised to work hard to make the development center the best in Imo
.
He further called for peace and stability in the area amidst a leadership tussle while calling on the warring factions to sheath their swords and embrace peace to bring development in the area.
The coordinator seized the opportunity to commend the governor for his commitment and leadership prowess and calls for all hand to be on deck to support his reelection bid.
