Traders at the Timber section of Umuahia Industrial Market have begged the State government to come to their assistance over incessant flooding being experienced in the market. The traders made the call in while speaking with some Journalist in over their bad experience.
A former Chairman of the Timber market, Chief Royal Obi Ukaigwe and other traders lamented that the internal roads in the timber industrial market have become dilapidated due to regular flooding. They noted that the situation has been affected businesses negatively in the market, as customers find it hard accessing their shops in the market due to the dilapidated condition of the roads.
The traders however thanked God for bringing Governor Alex Otti to power as according to them, bad infrastructure in the market would receive better attention from the State government. The Timber dealers listed Ihie and Ahiaeke axis of the Umuahia Ikot Ekpene road as a bottleneck to their business survival and frowned at the low pace of works by the contractor handling the expressway.
