The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has assured Anambra electorate of violent-free election come Nov 6th despite the incessant attacks on its facilities.
The INEC National Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, disclosed this during the national retreat on the validation of the draft INEC 2022-2026 Strategic Plan and strategic programme of Action.
Yakubu also stated that the recent attack on the commission provided it with ample opportunity to organize a free, fair and credible election in the State.
Despite the Commission’s risk management procedure, Professor Mahmood, who was represented by a National Commissioner and Chairman of Outreach committee, Dr. Adekunle Ogunmola, said it is hoped that the attacks would not be on a continuous basis. He maintained that the Anambra elections won’t be a difficult thing to plan, as there has been similar situation in the past, in Ondo State, where card readers were burnt.
