Ahead of Saturday’s guber poll in Anambra State, the police have announced a twenty-four hour restriction of movement.
According to DIG Zaki Ahmed, who addressed the press this afternoon at the Anambra Police Headquarters, the restriction would be from midnight, Friday to midnight, Saturday.
He assured that adequate security arrangements had been put in place to ensure the safety of voters.
According to him, the security forces were collaborating to ensure a hitch free exercise.
Assuring of the neutrality of the security agencies, he said a level playing ground would be provided for all parties.
He said intervention squads had been stationed at all local governments to respond to emergencies.
On the allegation by the Anambra State Government that some elements in the police planned to arrest some government officials to weaken their party, Ahmed dismissed it as fake.
He reiterated his assurance that adequate measures had been put in place to ensure a free, fair and hitch free exercise. “Our doors are open and we’ll be alive to our responsibilities,” he assured.
