..Advocates for massive voting of credible leaders

Awka Knights of Saint John International, Commandery four-three-four and LAUX three-six-three, during the weekend honoured their former spiritual adviser, the Catholic Bishop of Ekwulobia Diocese and one of the new Cardinals of the Catholic Church, Peter Cardinal Okpaleke.

The event which took place at the St Patrick’s Cathedral church, Awka with a pontifical high mass culminated into a grand civic reception with friends and grand patrons present.

Speaking during the homily, Cardinal Okpalaeke charged the knights to emulate the life of Saint Thomas Aquinas who gave up everything for Christ and emerged victorious in all the challenges of life. He charged them to hold on to their faith which he noted is the root of their salvation and the basis for christianity.

Cardinal Okpaleke however called on all eligible voters to vote all creditable leaders who will save the country from the current economic recession.

In an opening remark, Chairman on the occasion, Sir Joseph Oyego, admonished that the Knight of St John, awka commandary are blessed to be part of Cardinal Okpalaeke’s spiritual journey as they learnt a lot from him when he was their spiritual director

Speaking at the welcome address, the President, Knights of St John International Commandery Four Three-four, St Patrick’s Cathedral Awka, Sir Vincent Otikpa disclosed that Cardinal Okpalaeke showed deep interest in the affairs of the Order during his time with them and recalled how he played an important role in resolving a crisis that nearly engulfed the order and pleaded with him not to relent in providing them with spiritual leadership and guidance.

Sir Vincent Otikpa used the opportunity to call on all eligible voters to ensure that credible leaders be voted into office come February 25th. While calling on those who are yet to collect your voter’s card as it is the only tool needed to bring about positive change.

Present at the event were Grand Spiritual Director, Very Rev Fr Dr Evaristus Ifeanacho, spiritual Adviser, Commandary 434 & LAUX 363 Awka, Rev Fr Levi Ukor, families and friends among others.
