Christians have been charged to uphold righteousness by loving humanity and doing God’s words to merit Heaven.
Giving sermon during a special church service in commemoration of the Ascension of Jesus Christ into Heaven having risen from the dead, the Assistant Parish Priest of Saint Patrick Catholic Church, Umudibia Nekede, Owerri West, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Nnanabu on Thursday stressed that the love of Christ strengthens Christians to be upright, saying righteousness begins in the home and should be upheld by followers of Christ.

Nnanabu told Christians to continue to pray for God’s strength to be able to solve their difficulties and challenges, advising them against falsehood and laziness.
“Seek for spiritual, physical strength and divine wisdom to bravely surmount difficulties and challenges in our lives. Sometimes, our problems are from us because we refused to listen to God’s word. We should shun sin and live uprightly. Be involved in the activities that promote righteousness. Ensure to help people, be nice to your neighbors and conquer fear, as you enjoy God’s guidance”.

He reflected that the Feast of Jesus Christ (Ascension into Heaven) has brought hope of Heaven on Christians and other believers, admonishing them on keeping faith on God who is the reason of their joy and living.

“Through Ascension, Christ has shown us the immortality of His influence, His presence and His power, that have no end. Hence Christians have been reminded to follow Jesus Christ to manifest His immortality and presence.
However, Christians have the belief that Jesus Christ went to Heaven 40 days after Easter, hence the Feast of Ascension Thursday by Catholic.
