A group under the aegis of Igbo Ekene Global Development Union (IEGDU), has identified unity as paramount if the zone is to occupy the number one seat of Nigeria, come year 2023.
The President General of the Union, Amb. Moses Onyegbule who made this known during the monthly meeting of the organization, held at Uto Village apartment, Itaja-Obohia, Olokoro, Umuahia South L.G.A of Abia State, has harped on the need for Igbos to unite in order to attract massive development to the eastern region.
He underscored the need for Nigerians to carry each other along, irrespective of tribe, pointing out that the union was formulated by well meaning Nigerians of Igbo tribe, with the primary aim of seeing to the welfare the Nigerian populace.
His words, “Igbo-Ekene Global Development Union is an Igbo socio-cultural organization that is formulated by well meaning Nigerians of Igbo tribe, with the primary objective of catering for the welfare and wellbeing of Nigerians irrespective of tribe”.
Onyegbule pointed out that the group was designed to be associated with any group or association with like minds, intent and vision, revealing that the union is a non-political and non-profit making organization.
He said Igbo-Ekene has been carrying out sensitization programmes in its bid to harness culture and unity for Igbo development, pointing out that, “this is achieved by creating unity and participation at all levels of our society within the diversity of personal attributes so that every person will be the person he wants to be”.
