The National Administration officer of the miyeiti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, and Cordinator in South-East zone Alhaji Gidado Siddiki has assured the Anambra State Government to the association will generate more revenue if given a better land site where cattle businesses will strive.
Alhaji Gidado Siddiki gave the assurance during the interactive section with journalists at the celebration of Eid – Mubarak held recently in Awka.
According to Alhaji, “we are asking the government to provide security for us and also give us a big cattle market space that can accommodate us all, because most of us dont stay here due to the small market space here in Amansea we are assuring the government of generating higher revenue once we are given a larger market space”.
“This place is not a permanent cattle market, it’s a temporary cattle market, we where once given a land but our people didn’t go there that was during the past administration but now we no longer have access to the land, that is why we are still here why some of us are in Ugwu Oba”.
the Meyitii Allah Chairman in Awka also said that the cattle breeders are not here to claim lands nor fight anybody but to see that cows get greener pastures, and serve as meal to ndi Anambra.
While adding that Miyeitti Allah was constituted to protect the interest of the legitimate breeders, but coordinating fulanis operating only on legitimate business of cattle rearing in the South-East East.
He noted that this year’s Sallah have been peaceful without any hindrance. “we thank our Almighty Allah for making it possible for us we also thank the state authorities and the traditional leadership of this community we are living in, for providing this conducive environment for us”.
Alhaji Siddiki however frowned at the removal of fuel subsidy which he expressed has affected thier businesses. “fuel subsidy has affected almost every body including our cattle business because conveying a cow from Adamawa to this place is now expensive to convey one cow from Adamawa to the southeast is 40,000, we have multiple taxation on the road by touts before getting here one have to pay up to 500,000 per trailer including the high cost of fuel, people no longer buy cows due to the high cost of goods. The demand is now low because of the high cost of commodities.
in every state there are touts at the road collecting money, it too much, the whole taxation is too much.
He called on the government to please stop the touts from collecting money from drivers to avoid high cost of commodities. The insecurity is now mitigating unlike before we implore the government to put more effort to protect the sanctity of lives in there respective states.
